Neomys is the Latin name for the shrew genus, a genus that I especially love . The Eurasian water shrew, Neomys fodiens, was the first animal I painted on a piece of pottery.
From biologist to ceramist. My name is Marta and I turned my passion for ceramics and illustration into my profession when, together with my partner Bernardo, we moved from Galicia to Tuscany.
The studio is located in the facilities of Selvabella in Chianti, a bed and breakfast designed to host nature, ceramics and food lovers.
A disused cellar, formerly dedicated to the production of wine and oil became the atelier. An open space where each piece is built with local clays.
The forms and types of the pieces derive from the daily use we make of them in our b&b. The flora and fauna of our places of origin, the coast of Galicia and the interior of Tuscany, are the main source of inspiration for its decoration.
